Scott J. Corwin 2019 College Scholarship Essay Contest

Sponsored by Scott J. Corwin, A Professional Law Corporation, the second inaugural scholarship is being offered in 2019 to students attending (or entering) a California college or university. The winner will receive a $1,000 award for use toward his or her college tuition and/or fees.

The format

The scholarship will be presented to the winner of an essay contest. Essays will be judged on several criteria: strength of argument, grammatical soundness, uniqueness, adherence to topic, supporting evidence, and overall writing skill.

The topic

Self-driving vehicles are rapidly gaining momentum and seem likely to become part of U.S. roadways in the near future. Choose one or more ethical, legal, or moral questions surrounding this technological advancement and explain why (or why not) the issue you choose to examine should prevent the mainstream use of autonomous vehicles.

Submission deadline

The deadline for essay submissions is April 30th, 2019.

Eligibility of applicants

This scholarship is reserved for college or university students entering or currently attending a California institution of higher education. Students entering or continuing any 2-year or 4-year undergraduate program in Fall 2018 or Fall 2019 are eligible for the scholarship. Applicants must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.

Prize distribution

The $1000 award will be paid directly to the winner's school bursar's office or other eligible entity when necessary.

Review of applications and selection of winner

Attorney Scott Corwin and the firm's staff will review applications to determine a scholarship winner. The winner will be selected and notified by June 30, 2019.
