For many Los Angeles parents, the thought of losing a child is unbearable. Because of this, parents do everything within their power to protect their children. There are some situations, however, in which parents have no control. When a child is at school, at day care, or with a friend and his or her parents, Los Angeles parents expect the adults in charge to protect their child. Unfortunately, sometimes things go wrong.
This past weekend, three children and two adults rode in a golf cart down a street in Beverly Park. Suddenly, when one of the adults attempted to make a turn, the modified golf cart — which can go faster than normal golf carts — overturned. One of the boys, a 10-year-old, became stuck underneath the golf cart.
The young boy suffered severe head injuries and was transported in serious condition to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he died a few hours later. No one else was injured in the incident.
A situation like this is every parent’s worst nightmare. As of right now, it is not clear if the young boy was related in some way to either of the adults who were in the vehicle.
In a difficult situation like this one, it is important for the family members of the victim to consider all of their options. While no amount of money can ever make up for the death of a child, parents could be facing expensive medical bills, funeral costs and other expenses related to a fatal accident. When the accident was caused by someone else’s negligence, they should not be responsible for these costs. A successful wrongful death lawsuit can help a family obtain compensation for these expenses. Some families find that financial relief allows them to focus on supporting one another through such a difficult time.
