A fatal car accident on La Brea Avenue in Los Angeles left one person dead and four others needing hospitalization for their serious injuries. Details are a bit sparse at the moment, but it sounds like witnesses saw a speeding vehicle that ran a red light, triggering the accident. The two vehicles involved in that wreck eventually spun off and collided with a third vehicle.

A Los Angeles police officer said they are investigating the crash and trying to determine if it was just a red-light running, or if one of the drivers was intoxicated. In any case, it certainly seems as though one of the drivers was operating his or her vehicle in a dangerous and negligent way. One disturbing detail is that there were no skid marks at the scene of the crash, indicating that the reckless driver didn’t even attempt to brake before the collision.

Accidents like this usually take some time before officials can release a full report on the wreck. When that report is complete and released, the victims of such an accident — and their loved ones — could use the details to support any legal claim that they may have or make.

For example, though you may not want to consider it immediately after a fatal crash, a wrongful death lawsuit can help you and your family recover needed compensation to deal with the loss of a loved one. More than the compensation though, the lawsuit represents a sense of justice (however small it may be) for your fallen loved one.
