Without exception, all fatal traffic crashes are devastating. Perhaps few accidents are more upsetting, though, than a wreck caused by a drunk driver. To say it’s distressing is an understatement when lives are lost solely due to another driver’s selfish decision to drink alcohol and then get behind the wheel of a vehicle.
Just such a fatal drunk driving accident seems to have occurred recently in Riverside County. The multi-vehicle crash claimed one life and injured three other individuals at around 10:45 on a Wednesday morning. The driver believed responsible has since been arrested by the California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving while under the influence, according to police reports.
A CHP spokesman stated that the accident began when a white pickup truck crossed into opposing traffic to strike another vehicle. This vehicle overturned, which the caused a collision with a delivery van. Sadly, the driver of the overturned vehicle was declared dead at the scene of the accident, while the other three individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment of moderate injuries.
Unrelated to any criminal charges the allegedly drunk driver may be facing is the distinct possibility of a wrongful death lawsuit, should the family of the deceased individual wish to pursue this option by speaking with a California attorney. In fact, anyone in California who has been seriously injured or has lost a loved one due to the fault or negligence of another party has the same right. An experienced personal injury lawyer can offer guidance and support in pursuing just compensation for medical or funeral expenses and more.
