A two-car accident last month on PCH around 5:40 pm, July 12, 2018, caused one car to plunge 50 feet into the Pacific Ocean near Point Mugu. A total of five were injured in the collision while those launched into the ocean were extracted safely. Two of the three occupants of the submerged vehicle were ejected from the car and able to swim back to the rocks safely. The cause of the crash is uncertain and it remains unclear if either driver was under the influence. The accident shut down traffic on PCH for several hours near Point Mugu to insure the accident site was properly cleaned of debris.
Los Angeles has many scenic drives with incredible views of natural and manmade features. During the summer months with additional tourists, it cannot be understated how important it is to drive defensively. Throughout Los Angeles and especially near the coastline, watch out for people on electric scooters, bikes and skateboards. Other drivers may be new to the area and unfamiliar with some of the odd intersections of the greater Los Angeles area. As a word of caution, I ask everyone to drive defensively and enjoy the summer months ahead.
