Summer is just around the corner but don’t grab that beach towel just yet. Unfortunately, it is also the time of year that car crashes in Los Angeles increase. It is important to make sure you have adequate auto insurance before we enter the summer season.
There a few reasons that Los Angeles sees a spike in car accidents in the summer:
First, kids are out for summer! With younger, less experienced drivers on the road, it should be no surprise there is a spike in accidents during the summer months. Young teenage drivers are prone to driving at faster speeds, easily distracted by music and/or passengers and last but certainly not least, texting.
Another reason for more accidents during summer months is the issue of heat. High temperatures can be tough for your cars. Cars are more likely to break down and when they do, this can result in a rear end collision causing whiplash and potential neck injury.
Additionally, the summer months attract even more people to Los Angeles so we see a lot more cars on the road. Similarly, people have parties and gatherings during the summer months to enjoy the nice weather. This also means an overall increase in drunk drivers on the road. It is important to be alert and vigilant for erratic drivers on the road during summer months.

Thus, before heading to the beach this summer, make sure you talk to your loved ones about being extra cautious while driving this summer and make sure your insurance coverage is adequate and protects your family against other drivers. Many insurance providers have online tools to estimate the level of coverage right for your situation. And don’t forget to carry uninsured/underinsured coverage (ui/uim) to protect against drivers who don’t even carry basic insurance.
