Last month on Wednesday, June 12th, two victims died and five other people were injured in a multivehicle collision on 71 Freeway in Chino Hills.
Around 8:15AM on the southbound side of 71 at Butterfield Ranch Road, a total of six vehicles were involved in a fatal crash. A box truck overturned on top of a car, and two women in a white Honda Accord were killed in the accident. Neither of these victims were immediately identified.
Five other victims of the crash were severely injured, and transported to local hospitals. The conditions of these people were not immediately known upon the accident.
It was later stated that the Honda Accord was not the car underneath the box truck, but an additional car involved in the wreck. The victims in the car beneath the overturned box truck were transported to a local hospital, their conditions are unknown.
This car accident left the southbound lanes of 71 closed at morning rush hour, and traffic was at a standstill in the area for the majority of the morning. The lanes reopened hours later at 1PM. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
