A 33-year-old motorcyclist swerved off the road and crashed into a tree on Skyline Boulevard. The motorcyclist has now been identified by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office as Mila Acevedo of San Jose.
“Acevedo was traveling south on Skyline, about one mile south of Page Mill Road, when she rounded a corner on a 2018 Ducati Panigale V4 R motorcycle near the Skyline Ridge Open Space Preserve
lost control and veered off the roadway, according to the Palo Alto Police Department. Acevedo, who was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in a ravine, was pronounced dead at the scene,” (https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/05/14/palo-alto-coroner-identifies-motorcyclist-killed-in-crash-on-skyline-boulevard/).
A vehicle driving behind the motorcyclist witnessed the crash and saw a cloud of dust after going around the corner where the accident occurred. A park ranger drove by and stopped to assist, and called the California Highway Patrol at around 4:40pm.
“Public safety workers from the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, the Woodside Fire Department, the California Highway Patrol and the Santa Clara County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to the scene. Palo Alto’s Specialized Traffic Accident Reconstruction team took over the investigation when it was determined the crash occurred within the city limits of Palo Alto,” (https://www.mercurynews.com/2019/05/14/palo-alto-coroner-identifies-motorcyclist-killed-in-crash-on-skyline-boulevard/).
The cause of the accident has not yet been identified, but is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
