Of these crashes, 27 percent involve alcohol, 62 percent occur in the dark, and 79 percent occur in clear weather.

#2 - US-101 in Santa Clara

US-101 in Santa Clara County is the third deadliest stretch of road in the entire nation. With 78 deaths in the county and a total of 493 fatalities, there are approximately 112.8 fatalities per 100 crashes on this freeway.

Of these crashes, 28 percent involve alcohol, 59 percent occur in the dark, and 68 percent occur in clear weather.

#3 - SR-99 in Kern

SR-99 in Kern County is the third deadliest stretch of road in the state of California and the 11th most fatal roadway in the country. With 54 deaths in the county and a total of 350 fatalities, there are approximately 115.1 fatalities per 100 crashes on this freeway.

Of these crashes, 30 percent involve alcohol, 63 percent occur in the dark, and 79 percent occur in clear weather.

#4 - I-15 in San Bernadino

I-15 in San Bernadino County is the fourth deadliest stretch of road in the state of California and the 13th most fatal roadway in the country. With 188 deaths in the county and a total of 306 fatalities, there are approximately 112.1 fatalities per 100 crashes on this freeway.

Of these crashes, 30 percent involve alcohol, 62 percent occur in the dark, and 81 percent occur in clear weather.
