2018 College Scholarship Essay Contest Winner Announced

The winner of the 2018 Scott J. Corwin, APLC Overcoming Adversity Scholarship was recently announced. The award, which is given annually to a deserving college or university student, comes with a $1000 prize for use toward the winner’s tuition and/or fees. The winner is chosen from entrants who submit an essay, which is judged on strength of argument, uniqueness, overall writing skill, and other criteria. Submissions are reviewed by founding attorney Scott J. Corwin and the firm’s staff.

This year’s winner is Chassidy R. Walworth, a marketing and broadcast journalism major at St. Cloud State University. We would like to extend our sincerest congratulations to Ms. Walworth for earning this honor and for her accomplishments and achievements thus far.

According to attorney Scott J. Corwin, Ms. Walworth’s application essay was “extremely well-written” and “compelling,” with a story that “truly encompassed what it means to overcome adversity with grace and poise, triumphantly coming out on top.” Mr. Corwin added, “Continuing to blossom in the face of adversity takes effort, but I hope this award will help support you in your ongoing growth and flourishing.”

Applications for the 2019 scholarship are being accepted. The deadline for essay submissions is June 30, 2019. This year’s essay topic concerns autonomous vehicles.
